23 Weeks!

At Jaxsons for ice cream to celebrate
 my nephew's good grades.

We started this week off pretty great. On Sunday, I was finally getting over my cold and we decided to go eat our body weight in old timey ice cream with my nephew and brother to celebrate my nephew's good grades. I wanted to recognize him for the effort he's been putting in. It's not easy. He just moved here from Ecuador, not speaking much English and he's a Senior. So it's bumpy, but he's been working hard and I felt like his efforts should be rewarded. Anyway, Chocolate Suicide and Jaxsons Sampler happened and a good time was had by all.

The rest of the week went by really fast. It was a blur of work, school, studying for an exam, cooking, Zumba, Crossfit, Bible study and baby shower planning.

So today, TGIF! We don't have any plans other than Hector studying for his P.E. Exam (to get his Professional Engineering license) and probably me vegging out in front of the TV watching Friends.

Tomorrow, I have a meeting with my baby shower planner (my mom) so we can go over details like food and drinks. I think decorations are done, rentals are finalized (they just need to be paid for) and guest list and invites are done too.

Can't wait for this baby to get here! He will be so loved by all.

22 Weeks

We had a second ultrasound because he didn't let himself be fully
measured during the first one 2 weeks ago

This week has been challenging. I've had a lot going on been more stressed than usual. It's made me emotional and I've cried a lot. I got sick with a cold yesterday so I stayed home from work today to recoup. I have tons of homework this weekend so I can't relax much.

Weight: 8lbs up
Maternity clothes: Yes, work pants and jeans. I still wear my non-maternity tops and some dresses (that are dangerously close to not fitting anymore)
Stretch Marks: One big one that I got on my belly at the very beginning and a couple little ones on my hips. I religiously slather myself with this. It smells pretty good too.
Sleep: Not too good. I wake up around 4 times to pee and have a very hard time sleeping on my side.
Best moment: Seeing our baby again!
Missing: being able to sleep on my back comfortably.
Loving: Feeling him kick hard enough that I feel it outside of my belly.
Movement: Tons! He's on a sort of schedule. I feel him move a lot mid-morning around 11am and then a little less throughout the day. He moves a lot again at nighttime when I lay down.
Cravings: All kinds of fruit and sweets.
Sick: As in to my stomach? not much anymore. Sometimes I smell peppers and they make me a little tiny nauseous but not too bad.
Showing: Yes
Symptoms: Being more emotional sometimes, I cry when I'm stressed out and tired. I also cried because my workout shoes didn't fit anymore :(
Looking forward to: Getting some rest as I battle this cold.
Dad’s thoughts: “It's so sweet and precious that our baby is growing so fast. I'm glad to see your morning sickness is all gone away and that your heartburn is stable and not all day everyday like it was. Are you taking your vitamins?”

21 weeks - The halfway mark!

Here we are at the Dr.’s appointment yesterday:
Hello bump! This week was when my belly finally popped. I feel like now is the time when people will start coming up to me and asking when I’m due and the sex of the baby and if we have picked names yet.

To answer those questions: I’m due on January 22nd, 2017 It’s a BOY! His name is Leonardo

We are beyond excited and even though this is one of the busiest times of our lives (Hector studying for his P.E. exam, me finishing my last semester of school, our nephew coming to live with us), we could not be more thankful for this baby. We can’t wait to meet him and there are so many people who already love him so much.

He’s a very blessed baby. He will have 3 grandpas and 1 grandma, lots and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins, tons of baby friends (most of my friends had a baby in 2015-2016), and church members who already want to squeeze him! So many people just waiting to love on our little Leo.

So far, everything has been going great with the pregnancy. My blood pressure is normal, his heart beat is great, he is measuring correctly, all chromosome and spina bifida tests were done and they were negative. We have not started working on his nursery because the room he will be in is being used by my nephew right now, but I have a Pinterest board and a theme so that means it’s as good as done? LOL hopefully he won’t come ahead of time and take us by surprise.

I haven’t had many weird cravings, and when I usually do crave something it’s because I see it (on TV, or someone eating it, etc…) and then I’m like “Hmm that looks so good. I want one too!” My nausea has really gone away (the first trimester was ROUGH) and the bad heartburn I had for a while seems to be subsiding as well. This baby makes me hungry though! I have to carry snacks with me whenever I leave the house or I know I’ll be hurting later and definitely eat breakfast since I wake up ravenous most mornings. The nesting bug has hit me hard, but more so in the cooking department. I really enjoy making dinner for the guys at home and don’t find it to be a chore, but mostly therapeutic. We’ll see how long that lasts😉
